Northwest Georgia Credit Union

Northwest Georgia Credit Union

One of the most admired credit unions in Georgia, Northwest Georgia Credit Union is a nonprofit financial institution which started in 1961 under the original name Floyd County Teachers Federal Credit Union. Founded by educators aiming to support the financial needs of their fellow educators, the union began providing loan assistance to the members of Floyd County Schools, Rome City Schools and Coose Valley Technical College. After two decades of steady financial growth and membership expansion, the union officially changed its name to Northwest Georgia Credit Union.

Membership in Northwest Georgia Credit Union is open to anyone who belongs in the cooperative list of more than 100 sponsor employee groups, associations, businesses and organizations. Similar to other credit unions in Georgia, prospective members should open a savings account with an initial deposit of at least 25 dollars, which also serves as a lifetime membership fee. After this, members are automatically given free access to the union's services like free checking, online banking and bill paying, ATM, and the like. The steady increase of the financial assets of the union for the past few years enable it to design and offer a variety of loans to its member, improve and open new financial services, and provide higher dividends and low interest rates.
